A Level 4 (upper intermediate) ESL culture class on geography. The worksheet has a reading and discussion questions.

From the reading: Streets Full of Voices

On Saturday 27th June 2026, Dublin's streets will fill with colour, music, and movement as the city hosts its annual Pride parade. The theme this year is 'One Story, Many Voices' — a phrase that captures something true not just about Ireland's LGBTQ+ community, but about the entire global history of Pride. What began as an act of defiance in a single city has become one of the most geographically widespread civic events on the planet, celebrated on every inhabited continent and in cities as different as Reykjavik, São Paulo, Nairobi, and Taipei.

Discussion questions

  1. Have you ever attended a parade or public celebration that meant something personal to you?
  2. How do Pride parades differ in meaning across different countries and cultures?
  3. What if Pride parades had never existed — how different might society look today?
