From the reading: Beautiful Chaos: The Fleetwood Mac Story

In the winter of 1976, Fleetwood Mac entered a recording studio in Sausalito, California, carrying what was arguably the most volatile emotional cargo in rock history. Three of the band's five members were in the middle of bitter romantic breakups — with each other. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks had just ended a decade-long relationship. John and Christine McVie were divorcing after eight years of marriage. And yet what emerged from those sessions was Rumours, an album that sold over forty million copies and spent thirty-one weeks at number one in the United States. It remains one of the bestselling albums ever recorded.
