Think of a real team project — past or present — where personal tension shaped the outcome. You will diagnose what was really happening.

Name the tension

Describe in two or three sentences the core conflict: who, what, and when. Be specific — not 'we disagreed' but what exactly was at stake between which people.

If this conflict had gone badly, what would have been lost — for you personally, and for the project? Name one thing each.

Mark where this conflict sat on the urgency spectrum at the time. Then mark where you would place it now, looking back. Are they the same point?

The obvious answer

Write the solution most people in your team wanted — the safe, consensus choice that would have resolved the surface tension quickly.

Attack that answer

Look back at Step 3. What would the obvious answer from Step 5 have cost or ignored? Name the generative force it would have killed.

The hidden trade-off

What was your team really choosing between — not 'conflict vs. harmony' but something deeper and more specific? Commit to one word that names the trade-off, then write one sentence explaining why that word is the right one.
