From the reading: When the Streets Turn Rainbow
Every June, millions of people take to the streets in cities from São Paulo to Seoul, from Nairobi to New York. They carry flags, wear bright colours, and dance to music that spills out of speakers the size of small cars. Pride parades have grown from small acts of protest into some of the largest public events on the planet. São Paulo's Pride parade, which regularly draws over three million people, is considered the biggest in the world. If you had stood on Avenida Paulista in 2024, you would have seen a crowd that stretched further than the eye could reach.
