From the reading: Up in the Air at Dún Laoghaire
On a Sunday afternoon in July, a strip of coastline at Newtownsmith in Dún Laoghaire transforms into something that resists easy categorisation. Atmosphere — a free, open-air family festival organised as part of the wider Coastival programme — is themed around balloons, kites, and flight. It asks, in the gentlest possible way, whether adults have forgotten something essential about the relationship between effort, wind, and joy. The answer, judging by the crowds who arrive without tickets or bookings required, is almost always yes.
