From the reading: From Grafton Street to the Oscars
Not many musicians begin their careers standing on a street corner with a guitar case open at their feet. Glen Hansard did. Long before he held an Academy Award, he was busking on Grafton Street in Dublin, playing to whoever slowed down long enough to listen. He once said that Grafton Street was a fantastic theatre — and that if you could make it there, you could make it anywhere. It was, in many ways, the perfect school for what came next.
