From the reading: The Runners Who Never Stop
In October 2023, Courtney Dauwalter crossed the finish line of the Hardrock 100 — a 161-kilometre mountain race in Colorado — in first place overall, beating every male competitor. She had been running for nearly 26 hours through altitude, darkness, and freezing rain. When a journalist asked how she felt, she smiled and said she was already thinking about the next one. Dauwalter has been competing in ultra-endurance events for over a decade, and her performances have been getting faster, not slower, as she ages.
