From the reading: One Night That Changed Everything

On the evening of 22 April 1978, something happened at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, that no political speech had managed in years: two men shook hands. What made that moment so striking was not the handshake itself but who was doing it — Michael Manley, the socialist Prime Minister, and Edward Seaga, his bitter conservative opponent. Standing between them, holding their wrists aloft, was Bob Marley. It was Marley who had persuaded them both to attend the One Love Peace Concert, and it was Marley who coaxed them onto the stage in front of 32,000 people.
