From the reading: What Your Face Says Before You Speak
In 2006, psychologist Alex Todorov at Princeton University ran a simple experiment. He showed people photographs of two politicians for just one tenth of a second and asked which person looked more competent. The participants had never seen these politicians before. Yet their snap judgements predicted the outcome of actual US Senate elections with 70 percent accuracy. Todorov's conclusion was unsettling: voters may be choosing their leaders based on a glance, not a policy.
