From the reading: How Memory Champions Train Their Brains
In 2005, the journalist Joshua Foer covered the US Memory Championship for Slate magazine. He expected to meet freaks of nature. Instead, the competitors told him something that surprised him: anyone could do it. Foer decided to test that claim. A year later, after about a year of daily practice, he won the national title himself, memorising a deck of playing cards in under two minutes. He later described the journey in his 2011 book, Moonwalking with Einstein, which became an international bestseller.
