From the reading: Reinvention Is a Strategy

In 1983, a 24-year-old from Bay City, Michigan arrived in New York with $35 in her pocket and an idea about who she wanted to become. Madonna Louise Ciccone had studied dance at the University of Michigan, dropped out, moved to the city, and decided that the only person qualified to define her image was herself. Forty years later, that instinct has produced one of the most durable personal brands in entertainment history — and one that business strategists still reference when they talk about identity management and audience development.
