From the reading: Seven Seconds to Judge You
Here's an uncomfortable fact. Before you've finished your handshake, the interviewer may have already decided whether they like you. Not after your answer about your biggest weakness. Not after your STAR-method story about the time you saved a project. Seconds. Psychologists call this thin-slicing — the brain's habit of grabbing a tiny slice of behaviour and building a whole verdict from it. Why would evolution wire us this way? Probably because judging strangers fast once kept us alive. Useful on a savannah. Less useful in a conference room in Singapore or São Paulo.
