In 2023, a Colombian artist named Alejandro Gaitán walked into an empty warehouse in Bogotá and turned it into a gallery that now attracts thousands of visitors every month. He does not advertise on television. He does not rely on a famous curator or a wealthy sponsor. Instead, he uses Instagram, WhatsApp groups, and word of mouth. What he creates speaks directly to the city around him — the traffic, the noise, the energy of ordinary street life. His work asks a simple question: who does art actually belong to?
