Third-person -s

Add -s to the verb when the subject is he, she, or it. She paints. He does not apologise. It carries a risk.

do vs does in

Use does with he/she/it; use do with I/you/we/they. Does she paint murals? Do they exhibit abroad?

a and an —

Use a before consonant sounds and an before vowel sounds, for things mentioned for the first time. She holds a brush. He takes an unusual approach.

the — specific

Use the when both people know which thing is meant, or when something has already been mentioned. The exhibition opened last week.
