Donald Trump has warned Iran it will "pay the price" for stalled nuclear talks, as fresh US air strikes and Iranian missile salvoes push the two countries toward open war.
On Tuesday, US military jets began striking targets inside Iran after an American helicopter was shot down overnight above the Strait of Hormuz. Within hours, President Donald Trump was on Fox News promising the campaign was not finished. "I may keep going," he said. "They had a chance to sign a deal and survive.
" By Wednesday morning he had posted on Truth Social that Iran had been "completely defeated" — even as Tehran's missiles were landing on US bases across the region. Iran fired back fast. It launched missiles at bases hosting American forces in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, the same pattern of contained, rapid exchanges that has defined this conflict for weeks. But those earlier rounds ended quickly.
This one may not. Trump's public statements have raised serious doubts about whether the April 8 ceasefire is still in effect at all, and whether any diplomatic channel remains open.
