From the reading: Sorry, I Didn't Know
Every traveller makes mistakes. Some are small. Some are deeply embarrassing. Marcus Rashford was not visiting Japan on a football tour when this story happened — but imagine a tourist who arrived in Kyoto and walked straight into a quiet temple. He was wearing his shoes. Inside the temple, people were praying. A sign at the door said shoes off. He had not seen it. A local woman looked at him. Nobody said a word. He understood immediately. He left, removed his shoes, and came back. His face was red for an hour.
