From the reading: The Woman Who Rebuilt the Bronx
"People have been telling us for decades that the South Bronx is hopeless," says Majora Carter. "I have been proving them wrong my entire life." Carter grew up in the South Bronx in New York City, one of the poorest urban neighbourhoods in the United States. She has seen factories close, parks disappear, and families leave. But she has also spent over twenty years working to change all of that.
