From the reading: The Animal You'd Choose Says Everything
Ask someone which animal they would be, and watch what happens to their face. The question is, on the surface, absurd — yet it is precisely because it refuses to be answered literally that it unlocks something genuine. What emerges is rarely a zoological preference. It is, more often, a self-portrait in disguise. Psychologists who study self-concept have long noted that humans instinctively reach for animal metaphors when describing identity: we speak of being the wolf who works alone, the dolphin who needs community, the eagle scanning everything from above. These are not idle comparisons.
