Form

Subject + have/has been + verb-ing. Use 'has' with he/she/it; 'have' with I/you/we/they.

Duration — for / since

They have been testing the policy for three years / since 2021. — marks how long an action has continued.

Stative verbs — no

She has known him for years. ✓ — verbs like know, believe, want, own take simple perfect.

Common error

They have been worked all day. ✗ → They have been working all day. ✓ — past participle after 'been' is wrong.
