Past simple — negative

Use did not + base verb. The song did not become a hit at first. Short form: didn't.

Going to — plans

Use was/were going to for past plans. She was going to give up. Am/is/are going to for future plans.

Going to — predictions

Use going to for predictions with evidence. Vienna is going to wait for you.
