At the core of her statement was a tension that many public figures rarely acknowledge so plainly: the difference between defiance and simply existing. Though she was grateful for her success, it is increasingly becoming tarnished by the knowledge that she would enjoy it far more if she were thin. While Zara Larsson and Olivia Dean were granted basic humanity, CMAT was denied it entirely.

- Connects contrasting sentences. Requires semicolon before, comma after. She performed brilliantly; however, the online response was cruel.
