Gerund after

A gerund (verb + -ing) always follows a preposition. She is interested in getting another one. Never use the infinitive after a preposition.

stop doing vs stop to

He stopped checking his phone. = quit the habit. He stopped to check his phone. = paused for a new reason.

try doing vs try to do

Try asking her directly. = experiment with an approach. Try to ask her. = make an effort, possibly difficult.

remember / forget /

Remember doing = recall a past event. Remember to do = don't forget a future task. Same pattern for forget and regret.
