The most common problems are with articles (a, an, the), verb tenses, adjective order, and prepositions. In French, you say je suis arrivé — in English, you say I arrived or I have arrived, depending on the situation.

Articles: a / an / the

Use 'a' before consonant sounds, 'an' before vowel sounds. Use 'the' when both speaker and listener know which one. I saw a dog. The dog was big.

Past simple vs.

Past simple = finished time. Present perfect = no specific time or connection to now. I went there last year. I have been there before.

Adjective order

In English, adjectives must follow a fixed order: size → age → colour → origin → material → noun. A small old brown wooden box.

Prepositions: in / on

Use 'in' for months, years, long periods. 'On' for days and dates. 'At' for exact times and places. I start at 9 on Tuesday in March.
