was/were + adjective

Use 'was' or 'were' with an emotion adjective. She was nervous. They were excited.

felt + adjective

Use 'felt' (past of feel) with an emotion adjective. He felt proud after the race.

because + reason

Add 'because' to explain the feeling. I was scared because it was dark.

Start with the time to give context. The first time I flew, I was amazed.
